PG Cat - Cat for Earth Planet
Sunday Stroll in Grove Park

Hello everyone.
We’ve started exploring the activities that are offered in Birmingham and sampling some of the city’sculture, food, and sights. We all enjoy the diversity and multiculturalism of Birmingham, and love that we can find new things right on our doorstep. So, where does a nature loving cat and his friends start? The park, of course!

Here’s an interesting fact; Birmingham has more parks than any other European city!

We decided on Grove Park in Harborne because of its huge open space and gorgeous views. Plus,a bonus, there are a great variety of places to eat after getting some fresh air. From snacks and nibbles to an amazing Sunday roast, the friendly suburb of Harborne has you covered!

Perfect if you’relittle like me!

Or just love eating, like me!

We ran in and let our senses take in the surroundings. There were people laughing and enjoying a game of tennis, kids playing on swings and dogwalkers strolling. Also, there was a refreshing cool air and the sun glowed a huge hello tous.
We all galloped in on the long path and quickly met the local ducks…

Watch out for the banks! They’re very slippery in the winter mud. All was swell, I was minding my own business casually strollingwhen I suddenly made a grand entrance by skidding and landing with a big splash. Of course,Everybody laughed. Even the ducks looked amused.

You and ‘casual’ do not go in the same sentence, PG Raccoon!

Thankfully they were real friendly and, once I dried off, we got talking.

They told me their favourite breads are from the Basement Café and Bakery just at the top of the High Street.I told them I’ll see what I can swipe from the bins in future.

This guy is the boss of the park. Don’t be fooled by his intimidating look. He’s always up fora crusty roll and a talk. He offered a ride to Nervous Mouse and Bill the snail because they’re so slow.

Quite the contrary, you’re just far too fast, PG Raccoon!

I second that!

Wegathered around this colossal cedar tree in the middle of the park. It is believed to have been planted around 1785! If trees could whisper to snails, I imagine this one would have a fair few stories and words of wisdom to tell.

Caveman and Cavegirl found a nice spot to watch the day go by. It looked very peaceful and romantic near the pond. We left them there and allowed them to explore the park a little more.

We walked a little further around the cedar tree and relaxed in this big open space. The sun gently caressed the winter leaves and we began to feel like we were in a fairy tale.

Though I would NOT recommend being here after dark.I’ve seen what happens in horror films!

I scurried off to find a quiet safe place to keep warm. At the bottom of these steps, there is a fork which leads to different pathways. It made me think of a storywhere a character finds a path leading to different adventures.I don’t enjoy too much space, or too much excitement. I preferred to cuddle up in the crispy leaves. It was also ideal for me as I could keep snug or scamper through the bushes and leaves without being trodden on.

We were startled by an affectionate little puppy here. I attracted a lot of attention in the park, mainly because there were a lot of people walking their dogs. But I’m a friendly cat, I like dogs.
His humans were easy-going too, they gave me one of the dog biscuits!

I was surprised to see that parts of the park are neatly tucked away, which makes the space a good sight for watching wildlife. Apparently, some of the spots in the park are a hotspot for bat watching around dusk. Some people are afraid of bats, but really, they are just nervous mice with wings!

The views in Grove Park are something else. We wish we could have stayed longer but everyone was starting to shiver.
Of course he was cold! Hestill wears a loincloth in the 21st century!
I wonder what it was like here in our day?
From a summer picnic and game of rounders to a winter snowball fight and snowy fun, Grove park has something to offer all year round. We shall most definitely be back soon.

It`s Caturday!

Hello everybody!Let me introduce my friends and me.We are PG Cat and Friends. ‘PG’ stands for ‘protect globe’  because that is our mission! We’ve recently moved to the buzzing city of Birmingham, England.  Enjoying the street art at Floodgate Arch

Today we thought we’d show you around our neck of the woods and the heart of the city’s creativity, The Custard Factory in Digbeth!
We also brought along my cousins Ginger and Cake, who came over to visit.
With a history of different industry going back for many years and a diverse group of people living here, this part of town certainly has lotsto say. From Typhoo Tea to the world’s first eggless custardto modern Street art and alternative shops, Digbeth has played its part in the growth of Birmingham.
Also, Digbethis home to The Old Crown. This is one of the oldest buildings in Birmingham, dating all the way back to 1368!  They say it is haunted, but I don’t believe that nonsense!

Here is the cartoon garden we are planning outside our new home, The Custard Factory! It certainly beats that grey old car park!  As you can see we quickly got thinking about making this place greener.  We love the planet we live on and our mission is to keep it protected and encourage eco friendliness. Not only is Birmingham one of the Greenest cities in the UK, it is also biophilic.  In short, this means it’s an urban city with a large amount of nature and green spaces. Therefore, it’s encouraged that people protect, restore and grow nature as well as appreciatethe environment.
Nowadays, the Custard Factory is home to new business and artists of various kinds, a community that we’re proud to be part of.

This took us a while to climb. It would’ve taken Bill the Snail hoursif Nervous Mouse hadn’t come to the rescue!
It was quite a journey, but certainly worth it to see the view.
The viaduct here stretches overfor over a kilometre!  Apparently, this place will be a “park in the sky”, as part of the Birmingham Curzon HS2 plan. This city is good at doing green and urban.

One of the greatest things about The Custard Factory isthe amazing street art!  Often Changingevery few days, it’s always nice to wake up and see something new has appeared oris in the making. One handy illustration is a map of the area, it’s especially useful since Digbeth is full of side streets and venues tucked away.

There’s a lot more detail here than in some of the cavedrawings I used to do back in my day!A lot of leading street artists are commissioned to do these.  A lot of the artwork here dates back to the “City of Colours” festival from a couple of years ago.  It’s really great to see different types of artwork being supported here!  The streets are certainly unique and memorable!

It’s so interesting to see how much has changed since our day. We’re amazed by the type of places that humans can live in these days!
We like to relax here when the house gets too cramped. Here is one of Digbeth’s newest launches, The Archway.  This event space hosts an outdoor cinema, live music and sport,so there is always something interesting going on!Close by there’s the Yumm café andKanteen, independent shops, galleries and the Mockingbird Cinema and Kitchen.
I swear thatthing’s eyes moved!
And me!
You know, I’ve always thought we were missing a dog from our gang…

I think PG Raccoon is in shock…

We couldn’t help planting a few more flowers. They’re a great hidey hole for Nervous Mouse.
Don’t mind me. Just enjoying the view. There’s so much for me to climb around here, but sometimes I like to snuggle in the little nooks and crannies.

I’ve Never been so mesmerised by a wall before!
I’ve never seen you concentrate for so long! You should come out in the day with us more often!
This pool is right outside our house. The flamingos are lovely ladies. The fountain makes a soothing sound for a working cat to hear.
And a lot of fun to play in!
Not when you come in the house smelling like a wet dog it isn’t! I don’t know how those flamingo ladies put up with you!
And since moving here I have become good friends with this very friendly lady.We had a wonderful afternoon flying around the Custard Factory.A bird’s eye view of the Custard Factory is really impressive!
I think she liked your valentine’s card, PG Cat
She LOVED it. I got one back!
And here is one of our favourite places to eat - “Baked in Brick”.  We are big fans of their food and they don’t mind putting up with Caveman’s terrible table manners!
We don’t know what they put in their sauce, but it’s addictive! And you can buy their pizza by the slice – I’ve had to invest in some bigger loincloths!
Sometimes we get to have a ride in the car at the top of the restaurant.
We’re excited to be part of the Digbeth family and see what’s on offer in this wonderfully diverse city. Until next time, see you all soon.

Chaírete! We are Ginger & Cake, best friends who live in Corfu! We met a travelling human called Annamain in 2015. She was so kind to us, we ate lunch together and played every day.

We keep in touch with PG Cat & Friends and send postcards now and again. We like to share our funny adventures.

Hello from Nervous Mouse

Excuse me, hello!
PG Cat asked me to introduce myself. He is encouraging me to get used to technology, because I find it quite frightening. My friends say that technology is exciting, so I am trying to be brave and tapdancing on the keyboard, writing my first blog!

I am a quiet creature, but I enjoy having a group of friends to teach me about the ways of the world. I was a bit scared of PG Cat at first, but after we met, he made a pact to stop eating mice for good! Now, we are all firm friends, and everybody helps me to build my courage to discover new things. I am particularly keen to find some hidden gems, where I can be calm in the busy city. I will try to tell you about them as much as possible.

Pleasure to meet you, my human friends.

Pleasure to meet you, my human friends.
I am Bill the Snail and I am the exact opposite of my dear Raccoon friend from across the pond. I enjoy a plain, simple life of calm.

I love facts and history, and I have travelled to many a country. I know that many of you humans have a lust for knowledge and travel, so I’ll be here to give you tips and knowledge to keep your minds sharp.

Sup!?
I’m PG Raccoon, the crazy kid from faaaaaaaar away. I’m loud, I’m proud, I’m wacky, and HATE waste. My poor friend Bill the Snail has so much of my collected stuff in his room because mine’s all full up.

But he has a shell to hide in anyway so it’s not like he needs it.
Anyways, where was I? Oh yeah, See, I like to make stuff… outta stuff. I think you human guys call it ‘re-cy-cling’. I think it’s a great way to be creative! Follow me for tips, tricks and inventive fun!
